About Kaki John Interiors
Big Personality, Bold Designs.
AUSTIN INTERIOR DESIGN FIRM
Homes and Spaces That Look Like the People in Them
Kaki John Interiors is an Austin-based interior design firm for people who want a home that looks like them, feels good to live in, and gets done without them having to manage every detail. We design remodels, new construction and fully furnished spaces for homes, boutique hotels, restaurants and Airbnbs in Austin, across Texas and around the country.
Our work leans bold, warm and personal. You'll see confident color, pattern that earns its place, and pieces with a story behind them, balanced with the comfort a house needs for real life. A little glam, a little grounded, and always built around the people who live there.
We also believe design should be fun. You should look forward to every meeting with your designer, and when the last pillow is placed, you should walk in the door and feel like the house finally caught up to who you are.
Meet Kaki
KAKI JOHN, OWNER & LEAD DESIGNER
Hi y'all, I'm Kaki. I honestly can't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with fabric, color, pattern and the way a room makes you feel when you walk into it.
I started back in 2012 designing for friends and family, a living room here and a bathroom refresh there, and before long I was working side by side with builders and contractors on full projects from the flooring to the ceiling fans. That hands-on time taught me how a design holds up once real life moves in, which is something you can't learn from a mood board. I officially launched Kaki John Interiors in February 2023, the same year I earned my Interior Design degree from the New York Institute of Art and Design.
My favorite projects are the ones where a client tells me who they are and I get to bring it to life and reflect it back to them in their spaces. Some clients come to me with a Pinterest board ten years in the making, and some just know the house doesn't feel like theirs yet. Either way, I do the heavy lifting on decisions, sourcing, and coordination, so you get to enjoy all the fun parts.
When I'm not designing, you'll find me traveling, snow skiing, playing a little golf, or cooking for a full table with my two grown daughters. And there's usually a Diet Coke within reach.
How We Work
Every project starts with a conversation about how you live, what you love and what's driving you crazy about the space right now. From there, we take on as much or as little as you need.
Project planning and design for kitchens, baths and whole-home renovations, with selections and drawings your builder can work from.
Remodeling
New Construction
Full-service interior design from the first plan review through finishes, fixtures and the final walkthrough, coordinated alongside your builder and trades.
Styling and Decorating
Space planning, sourcing and styling, including the art, rugs and accessories that make a room feel finished instead of staged.
Hospitality and Rentals
Design and furnishing for boutique hotels, restaurants and Airbnbs, built to wow guests and hold up to heavy use.
Our clients are busy, and they hire us so they don't have to become part-time project managers. We keep the decisions moving, give you a clear point of view when you're stuck between options, and handle the details you'd rather not think about.
Who We Design For
Homes
We're based in Austin, Texas but don’t be fooled - we work with projects across Texas and nationwide! Our residential clients tend to be homeowners who know good design when they see it, don't have the time to chase it down themselves, and want a designer who feels like a trusted friend with great taste.
Hotels, Restaurants and Airbnbs
We bring that same eye to hospitality. Boutique hotels, restaurants and Airbnbs depend on how a space makes guests feel, and we design rooms people remember, photograph and come back to. For short-term rental owners, that also means durable, easy-care finishes that still look great in every listing photo.
